Who & What is SSLA?

Who We Are

Liquor Accords

Liquor Accords are local voluntary liquor industry partnerships which aim to:

  • improve the operation of licensed premises,
  • promote the responsible service and consumption of alcohol
  • prevent or reduce alcohol related harm, violence and anti-social behaviour.

Accords provide a forum for licensees to identify local alcohol related issues and develop responses. Accord membership includes the operators of licensed premises. Accord meetings can be attended by NSW Police, NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) the City and other community organisations and groups. Accords have a chair, treasurer and secretary one of which must be a licensee. Membership of accords is voluntary unless OLGR has directed a licensee to join an Accord.

Information and resources for Accords are available from the NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing

Accords in the City of Sydney

There are 7 Accords operating in the City of Sydney local government area. The City supports precinct based accords as they provide for the development by licensees of local responses to specific local issues.

Some Accords are established in Police Local Area Commands with some suburbs split across 2 accords. Licensed premises in these areas may join either Accord depending on local issues as to which is more appropriate.

Accords in the City of Sydney area have developed patron education campaigns and transport shuttle bus services for patrons. The City has supports the establishment and administration of Accords and the development of patron education campaigns.

Reproduced by the City for Licensing Accord members to assist in patron education to new powers under the Liquor Act.
